Yesterday marked the grand conclusion of ‘Project Waste,’ a four-weekend journey across eight vibrant classes dedicated to the art of upcycling and unconventional creation. It was an expedition designed not just to craft, but to challenge and inspire.

Each weekend, our young artists dove into a new realm of materiality, transforming the ‘uncommon’ into the extraordinary:

Week 1: The poetry of natural materials – Soil, Sticks, and stones.
Week 2: The narrative weave of discarded cloths and textiles.
Week 3: The layered possibilities of waste papers and card.
Week 4: The rugged beauty of scrap metal.

The resulting outputs were not merely crafts; they were intriguing, powerful statements born from the unexpected. Yet, the true magic of the project lay not in the final product, but in the richness of the process.

The objective was achieved: to liberate the children’s creativity by exposing them to materials far beyond the usual crayon and clay, allowing them to respond organically and uniquely to the waste they had courageously transformed into art.
